Re-awakening Running!
My journey literally up and running, makes me take a moment and recognize how it awoke in 2023!
I returned from my Christmas holiday mid of January 2023. Going back to my usual routine - Spinning on Tuesday evenings, I saw that I am not able to register for a place 2-3 times in a row.
My body structure and condition needs
running + spinning + cycling casually around the city + a lean high fibre diet.
Just spinning wasn’t helping even though I did it for almost a year.
It’s not that there was anything wrong with the spinning lessons, my body just needed more movement. Just as the instructor recommended.
Going back to our story of mid-January where i’ve realised I’m buying clothes size XL and my usual spinning isn’t available, cross fit isn’t available near me at 6:30 AM, running was the easiest. I’d rather do something than nothing!
Before I began running though, I did download Asana rebel and did some of the workouts > but didn’t see much activity happening. I didn’t feel the burn. My body wasn’t in the condition to endure the medium or high intensity workouts. Which means > No results. No intention here to discredit asana rebel. It just didn’t work for me. Maybe it works for thousands others.
If I don’t see results I am not motivated to continue it.
While i still tried to some of the workouts, it was 28 January - the WOSP run. A charity run of 5k organised. A group of runner colleagues from work were planning to do it as a team. I figured why not? I’ll be some workout for me. I did the run with zero practice. 5km. It was exhausting!!
Like a dormant volcano turned active, I realised I actually like running! I use to run when I was in school. Race, relay, win!
Well, I still have my legs. Let’s do it more often.
With no access to my favorite spin class, running at the treadmill was the next available thing, right there in the gymn, why not try it? 7 weeks on, 5 days a week, it gets more and more exciting. For now, it’s here to stay. Toodles!
