Need for Nature
Away from the city that’s just behind you
It’s quiet and fresh
You tap into the energy
Tune into that what lives and dies and is alive again
Another form in another season
Amongst trees with bright moss
Some a decade old, some new and yet some a century
Watching a bird take flight just before my eyes
Another landing, perching upon a branch
Bathing it’s feathers in spring time
Experiencing this brings the perception of why my psychologist
A former military person runs 10 km with his dog almost daily
And why he needs 10 pairs of shoes for running
Feeling the ground beneath me
Moist here
A strong branch there
I see why one might need a different pair to run in the forest, the woods, a separate one for asphalt
And while you return
Hear the sound of vehicles, they get louder
your heart still in the woods
In the quiet among the sound of birds
Your breath singing the melody of nature
You’re gently nudged
You are always welcome back there
To unwind from the concrete world
Something you’re very much a part of
Alternating between the organic and the urban
