What sort of men are you surrounded with?

So today I was sitting in my chair, on the first day at my new work, reading a book while my system was being set up. That’s when I overheard a group of men from the kitchen area talking about something that made me stop in my activity and pay close attention.

My mind was saying...wowww this is gold. So what were they saying? They were talking about a C-section and the difficulties that women can face in delivering a child. 

As a woman, I feel so proud to hear and know that such men exist today as well. I’m thinking to myself, where are men like these hiding in the world out there beyond this office? 

Typically you’ve heard men talking about what’s hot from last night's game, or cars or play station or their latest fitness levels. If they’re talking about women they’re usually seeing women as either a sex object or a burden. 

I observed one of the guys as he spoke about his wife. He was describing some aspects of her work as a midwife. He talked about her with such pride. His eyes shone and his face glowed as he truly delighted in her talent and skill in her job. 

Later when I thought about this situation, I wondered.... such men.... in Poland? Really? Boy am I pleasantly surprised! Not that all Poles are condescending and sexist towards women but the probability of those who are is much higher than those who aren’t. My data comes from my and my female friends’ experiences. Apart from those that I encountered today, I can barely count on my fingers men who are respectful and appreciative of women. 

In my opinion, it's vital that women have good examples of men around them in their direct environment, as this genuinely helps women look at men in a more positive and trusting manner. On one side you have Hollywood that paints unrealistic pictures about men and then the reality is so far from it for most women that it becomes unimaginable to think that good men indeed do exist in the world today in our day and life. 

A big shout out to the Universe for bringing me into this environment. Makes strides in having a positive outlook towards men. Being surrounded by these wonderful human beings that respect women to such a great extent is a true blessing. What’s your experience with men in regard to respecting women?
